The Second Committee met this morning to conclude its debate on globalization and interdependence, including science and technology for development and preventing and combating corrupt practices and transfer of assets of illicit origin and returning such assets, in particular to the countries of origin, consistent with the United Nations Convention against Corruption.  (For background information, see Press Release GA\/EF\/3191 of 31 October.)<\/p><\/div>\n

Before it began its general discussion, the Committee heard the introduction of draft resolutions on the Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources<\/u> (document A\/C.2\/62\/L.7).<\/p><\/div>\n

Introduction of Draft Resolutions<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

HATEM TAG-ELDIN (<\/span>Egypt<\/u><\/span>) introduced the draft on the Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources, introduced the eponymous draft resolution (document <\/span>A\/C.2\/62\/L.7<\/a>), expressing the hope that it would contribute to alleviating the hardship those under occupation faced.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
