LETTER DATED 24 MARCH 1997 FROM THE CHARGE D'AFFAIRES A.I.<\/p><\/div>\n

OF THE PERMANENT MISSION OF ISRAEL TO THE UNITED NATIONS  <\/p><\/div>\n

ADDRESSED TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I refer to the letters dated 27 February 1997 (S\/1997\/165) and 18 March 1997 (S\/1997\/233) from the Permanent Observer of Palestine addressed to the President of the Security Council and the Secretary-General, respectively, requesting an immediate meeting of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>As you will be aware, these letters do not constitute valid requests for meetings of the Security Council since they were made by a representative of an organization and not a State, as required by the Charter of the United Nations and the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have the present letter circulated as a document of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
