QUESTION OF THE VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

OCCUPIED ARAB TERRITORIES, INCLUDING PALESTINE<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Letter dated 10 April 2003 from the Permanent Observer for Palestine<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

to the United Nations Office at Geneva addressed to the United Nations<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

High Commissioner for Human Rights<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

  At least 27 teenagers were injured in Jabah School yesterday morning, 9 April, 4 of them seriously, when a grenade planted inside the school by an Israeli settler organization went off. A Zionist organization calling itself “ Revenge of the Children” claimed responsibility for this operation. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  This is how the Government of Israel gives free hand to terrorist Zionist organizations to perpetrate crimes against Palestinian teenagers in total impunity.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Furthermore, the Israeli military forces continue perpetrating other crimes in other places all over the occupied Palestinian territories, thus the Israeli Zionist institution collaborating with the occupation forces, the Israeli settlers and the terrorist gangs all work together, each in its respective field within a war of genocide aimed at exterminating the Palestinian people. <\/p><\/div>\n

  At the time when the grenade went off in the mentioned school, the Israeli occupation troops, backed by tanks and heavy war machinery, were conducting a military invasion into Beit Hanoun town in the northern Gaza Strip, killing at least four Palestinians and wounding a dozen others. Meanwhile a large-scale campaign of home demolition continues to take place all over the occupied Palestinian territory.<\/p><\/div>\n

  The Government of Israel is to be held accountable and should bear full responsibility for this crime against innocent children as well as for all the other crimes it has been perpetrating against the Palestinian people for decades now, in total disregard for the principles of international law, international humanitarian law, and in flagrant violation of the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention, the principles of human rights and the two international covenants on human rights. <\/p><\/div>\n

  I would be most grateful if you could arrange to have this letter distributed to their Excellencies, members of the Commission on Human Rights, as an official document of the fifty-ninth session of the Commission on Human Rights under its agenda item 8.<\/p><\/div>\n
