The current agenda was dominated by counter-terrorist activities and the need to adopt measures to prevent the economic and social conditions on the West Bank and in the Gaza Strip from deteriorating further. &#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">40.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>Mrs. LUNDBERG (Minority Rights Group)&nbsp;&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">41.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>The Palestinians had had their fundamental rights denied in various ways since 1947, notably in respect of education, land, water and political participation. Much attention was currently being given to the West Bank but the situation in the Gaza Strip, which remained as desperate as in the past, seemed to have been forgotten. Assassinations and bombings had been carried out by extremists on both sides with the intention of undermining the peace process yet again.&nbsp;&nbsp;Whatever the provocations, the rights of Palestinians must continue to be promoted alongside the initiatives to reconcile the communities.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Palestinians in Lebanon, Jordan and Israel itself were in danger of being neglected in the peace process and that would create the potential for another major conflict.
