Letter dated 10 January 1997 from the Permanent Representative of<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations addressed to<\/u>  <\/p><\/div>\n

the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Upon instructions from my Government and with reference to the letter dated 2 January 1997 (A\/51\/769-S\/1997\/6), I would like to state the following:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects the Israeli allegations against it in the above-mentioned letter.  My Government underlines the fact that its assistance to the Lebanese people, who are resisting the long-standing Israeli occupation, is of a humanitarian and moral nature.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>It is the usual practice of the Israeli regime to resort to a distortion of facts in order to justify the continuation of its illegal occupation of southern Lebanon and the other occupied territories.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>It would be highly appreciated if the present letter were circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under the item entitled "Measures to eliminate international terrorism", and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
