Report of the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

(in pursuance of General Assembly resolution 44\/48 E)<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

1.\t<\/span>The present report is submitted in pursuance of General Assembly resolution 44\/48 E of 8 December 1989, the operative part of which reads as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"The General Assembly<\/u>,\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"…\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"1.\t<\/span>Strongly deplores<\/u> the continuing disregard by Israel, the occupying Power, of the relevant decisions of the Security Council and resolutions of the General Assembly;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"2.\t<\/span>Demands<\/u> that the Government of Israel, the occupying Power, rescind the illegal measures taken by the Israeli authorities in deporting Palestinians and that it facilitate their immediate return;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"3.\t<\/span>Calls upon<\/u> Israel, the occupying Power, to cease forthwith the deportation of Palestinians and to abide scrupulously by the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"4.\t<\/span>Requests<\/u> the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly as soon as possible but not later than the beginning of its forty-fifth session on the implementation of the present resolution."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

2.\t<\/span>On 14 March 1990, the Secretary-General addressed a note verbale to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, in which he requested, in view of his reporting responsibilities under the resolution, that the Minister for Foreign Affairs inform him of any steps his Government had taken or envisaged taking in implementation of the relevant provisions of the resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n

3.\t<\/span>No reply had been received at the time of the preparation of the present report.<\/p><\/div>\n
