Letter dated 16 March 1992 from the Permanent Observer<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

of Palestine to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I am instructed by the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which has the powers and responsibilities of the Provisional Government of Palestine, to bring the following to your immediate attention.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On 15 March 1992, a large contingent of Israeli occupying forces stormed the Askar refugee camp from several directions.  The result of this attack against this camp in the occupied Palestinian West Bank was that three Palestinians were killed and a fourth injured.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>This action is a continuation of the policy and practices of Israel, the occupying Power, of intensified aggression and repression against the Palestinian people living under Israeli military occupation.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>All of those Israeli illegal practices represent clear violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949 and all relevant United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>We call upon the United Nations and, in particular, the Security Council to take necessary measures to put an end to such illegal practices committed by Israel, the occupying Power.  Providing international protection for the Palestinian people living under Israeli occupation is imperative.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would arrange to have the text of the present letter circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under items 30, 35 and 74 of the preliminary list, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
