  I have the honour to transmit to you herewith the text of a statement dated 11 June 2005 made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic (see annex). <\/p><\/div>\n

Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  In response to the statements made by some officials in the United States Administration regarding Syrian interference in Lebanese affairs through the action of intelligence agents, the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic wishes to affirm that such allegations are unfounded, that Syria completed the full return of its forces and the intelligence apparatus connected with them on 26 April 2005 and that the United Nations has confirmed this in its report on the related verification, issued on 23 May 2005. Consequently, any reports or statements which conflict with those official confirmations are to be rejected. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  The Syrian Arab Republic expresses its great surprise that the American Administration would give any credence to reports or statements made by persons either inside or outside Lebanon whose objectives are questionable. Syria affirms once again its great solicitude for Lebanon’s security and stability, just as it is solicitous for the security and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic. <\/p><\/div>\n
