\t<\/span>On instructions from my Government and further to our previous letters concerning the acts of aggression committed by Israel against Lebanon, I have the honour to inform you that on 8 April 1990 armoured vehicles and artillery of the Israeli occupation forces shelled the villagess of Zawtar El-Gharbiye, Zawtar El-Charqie, Choukine, Mayfdoun, Kakayet El-Jisr, Mouhit Kfartebnit and Mazraat El-Jisr, taking aim at dwellings and shelters in which the inhabitants of these villages had sought refuge.  The shelling, which lasted from noon to 4.30 p.m., left one person dead (Habib Cheissi) and eight wounded among the civilian population.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>At 7 a.m. on Monday morning (9 April), while the inhabitants of these places were preparing to bury the victim, they were surprised by a hail of artillery shells fired on the cemetery and the house of the deceased.  They dispersed before they were able to bury the dead man.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>In protesting against and condemning these fresh acts of aggression constituting a violation of international custom, which demonstrate that Israel has no respect for human life and absolutely no concern for the safety of the civilian population, the Government of Lebanon reserves the right to request the convening of a meeting of the Security Council to consider the situation created by these acts of aggression.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have the text of this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under item 35 of the preliminary list, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
