I have the honour to enclose herewith the text of a letter dated 8 July 1982 from the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Zhao Ziyang, to the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Yasser Arafat.<\/p><\/div>\n

It is kindly requested that this text be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under items 31 and 34 of the preliminary list, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

Letter dated 8 July 1982 from the Premier of the State Council of the People's <\/u>Republic of China to the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>With the connivance and blessing of the United States, the Begin authorities of Israel launched a most brutal aggression upon Lebanon, reducing numerous Lebanese cities and towns and Palestinian refugee camps to ruins and slaughtering tens of thousands of Lebanese and Palestinian civilians. The Chinese Government and people are greatly incensed at and strongly condemn Israel's savage aggression and express deep admiration for the bravery shown by the Palestinian guerrillas and people in their resistance against aggressors under the leadership of the PLO. On behalf of Chairman Hu Yaobang, Vice-Chairman Deng Xiaoping and the Chinese Government and people, I extend to you and your comrades-in-arms our cordial regards and high respects.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>All Justice-upholding and peace-loving countries and people in the world are condemning, in one voice, the Begin authorities of Israel for their using without scruple Israeli youth as cannon fodder to launch an inhuman aggressive war in disregard of the norms of international law. As a Chinese saying goes, "a Just cause enjoys abundant support while an unjust cause finds little support." You are not isolated in the struggle and the cause you are fighting for is just. You have made tremendous sacrifice. However, we are fully confident that, so long as you uphold principles, persist in the struggle, strengthen unity, pursue correct military and political policies and tactics and win the sympathy and support of the people all over the world, you will surely overcome difficulties, defeat the ferocious enemy and finally obtain the sacred national rights of the Palestinian people.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Chinese Government and people will, as always, support the just struggle waged by the Palestinian and other Arab people against Israeli expansionism. The Chinese Government has always held that an all-round and Just solution to the Middle East issue can be achieved only on the basis of restoring the Palestinian national rights and respecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Arab countries. It will make unremitting efforts in accordance with its consistent principled stand and together with governments upholding justice and cherishing peace, to check the Israeli aggression and support the Palestinian and other Arab people in their just struggle.<\/p><\/div>\n
