Letter dated 24 February 1975 from the representative of Yemen<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

In my capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group for February 1975, and as a result of consultations with the Arab Ambassadors, I have the honour to transmit to you, annexed to this letter, the resolutions adopted by the Moslem-Christian Meeting on Jerusalem, held at the headquarters of the secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo on 16 January 1975.<\/p><\/div>\n

I request that these resolutions be circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

ANNEX<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Resolutions adopted by the Moslem-Christian Meeting on Jerusalem, held at Cairo on 16 January 1975<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

First: <\/i>The Meeting condemns the Israeli measures aimed at changing the distinctive character of the Holy City, the Arab city which has, throughout its long history, retained its posi­tion as a spiritual centre for millions of Moslems, Christians and Jews;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Secondly: <\/i>The Meeting denounces the actions of the Israeli occupation authorities who continue to confiscate and seize Arab lands, to conduct excavations and destroy cultural properties around the Holy Shrine and to evacuate the Arab inhabitants from their homes. The Meeting also strongly denounces the construction of settlements which have en­circled the city with fortress-like buildings which have defiled its sanctity;<\/p><\/div>\n

Thirdly: <\/i>The Meeting appeals to all Moslem, Christian and Jewish believers to contribute to all efforts to save the City of Peace from Zionist occupation, and to expose, by all possible means, the actions of these authorities aimed at altering the demographic, economic, social and cultural status of the city;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Fourthly: <\/i>As the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations have adopted several resolutions condemning  the annexation of Jerusalem  and considering null and  void all  legislative,  administrative  and  other measures taken  by the authorities  of the Zionist occupation,  and in view  of the fact  that Israel  has  not  complied  with these resolutions  but  has  rejected  them in defiance  of  the  international   community,   the   Meeting  calls   upon  the   Security Council to meet with a view to imposing appropriate sanction against Israel under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Fifthly: <\/i>The Meeting requests the General Assembly of the United Nations, at its forthcoming session, to freeze the membership of Israel until such time as the international resolutions relating to Jerusalem have been implemented and Arab sovereignty over this City has been restored;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Sixthly:  <\/i>The   Meeting  denounces  Israel's  attitude  toward Archbishop Capucoi and the torture and imprisonment he is suffering at the hands of its authorities. The Meeting appeals to the United Nations, to all believers and to all peace-loving people in the world to intervene immediately with a view to releasing the  archbishop,  whose  case  constitutes  a flagrant example of the contempt of the Israeli authorities for human values and ideals and their total disregard of the traditional respect and deference shown by the international community to men of religion;<\/p><\/div>\n

Seventhly: <\/i>The Meeting denounces the attitude of Israeli occupation authorities who, in order to facilitate the achievement of their expansionist aims, have deported certain patriotic elements from  Jerusalem  and  other parts  of  the  occupied homeland  in   an  attempt  to  keep  the   area  free  from its spiritual and political leadership.<\/p><\/div>\n
