Letter dated 4 June 2004 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

On instructions from my Government, I provide you with the following summary of Israeli violations and acts of aggression against Lebanon: <\/p><\/div>\n

    23 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/strong> <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Between 0115 and 0515 hours an Israeli military boat in the open sea off Ra’s Naqurah fired a flare bomb and a number of rounds from medium-calibre weapons over the territorial waters. <\/p><\/div>\n

    25 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/strong> <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Between 1550 and 1725 hours Israeli enemy forces positioned at Ruwaysat<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

al-Alam, within the occupied Shab`a Farms area, fired a number of rounds at the area around the said position. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

    26 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Between 0400 and 0530 hours an Israeli military boat in the open sea off Ra’s Naqurah fired two flare bombs and a number of rounds from medium-calibre weapons over the territorial waters. At 2005 hours it returned and again fired a number of rounds. <\/p><\/div>\n

    27 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/strong> <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  At 1545 hours Israeli enemy forces positioned at Ruwaysat al-Alam, within the occupied Shab`a Farms area, fired a number of rounds at the area around the said position. <\/p><\/div>\n

  At 2259 hours Israeli enemy forces positioned at Ruwaysat al-Alam, within the occupied Shab`a Farms area, fired a number of rounds at the area around the said position.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  At 1910 hours an Israeli military boat in the open sea off Ra’s Naqurah fired a number of rounds from medium-calibre weapons over the territorial waters. <\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p><\/div>\n

    30 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/strong> <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Between 0648 and 0800 hours an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew at medium altitude over the sea off Tyre, then headed east and circled over the Tyre, Nabatiyah and Sidon regions, thus violating Lebanese airspace. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

  Between 1658 and 2040 hours an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew at medium altitude over the sea off Tyre, then headed north and circled over Beirut, thus violating Lebanese airspace. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

    31 May 2004<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 <\/strong> <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  Between 0710 and 0800 hours an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew at medium altitude over the sea off Tyre, then headed east and circled over the Tyre and Zahrani areas, thus violating Lebanese airspace. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

  Between 1602 and 0115 hours an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flew at medium altitude over the sea off Tyre, then headed over the plain of the Bekaa and circled over the Riyaq and Anjar areas, thus violating Lebanese airspace. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

  Between 0715 and 1330 hours Israeli military aircraft overflew the sea off Sidon at medium altitude, headed east towards the Bekaa plain, circling over the areas of Jubb Jannin and Anjar, then headed west towards Sidon, thus violating Lebanese airspace. <\/p><\/div>\n

  These grave violations are part of a series of persistent and provocative Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace and territory and are in contravention of the principles of international law and the resolutions of international legitimacy, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations has repeatedly called for their cessation. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

  In view of these violations and the stepping-up of Israeli threats to Lebanon and the safety of its territory and its citizens, Lebanon calls upon the Security Council to deter and prevent Israel from such dangerous acts, which pose a threat to international security and peace. Israel must assume full responsibility for those acts and for any consequences to which they may give rise. <\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

  In drawing your attention to the gravity and possible consequences of such acts, I request to have this letter of complaint circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 37, and of the Security Council. <\/p><\/div>\n
