\t<\/span>The new international political realities of today’s world are undergoing enormous changes that affect regional and international relations. These new realities have led to increased responsibilities for the United Nations in its efforts to find solutions to problems affecting world peace and security. The League of Arab States has been eager to cooperate with the Secretary-General of the United Nations in order to strengthen the Organization’s role in establishing peace on the basis of justice and United Nations resolutions, especially in our Arab region. In this regard, the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations at the League of Arab States Summit held in Beirut last March reflected that cooperation and helped to increase international support for the Arab peace initiative adopted at the Beirut Summit and welcomed by the Security Council in its resolutions <\/span>1397 (2002)<\/a> and <\/span>1435 (2002)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>We consider that, in view of current events in the occupied Palestinian territories, it is necessary to intensify that cooperation and to ensure a greater United Nations contribution to ending Israel’s occupation of Arab territories and the Israeli occupying forces’ continued aggression against the Palestinian people.  <\/p><\/div>\n
