AUSTRALIA: DRAFT RESOLUTION<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The First Committee,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recalling the Resolution No. 181 (II) adopted by the General Assembly at its Second Session on 29 November 1947;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Having taken note of the report submitted to it by the United Nations Palestine Commission;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Having taken note of the stated intention of the Mandatory Power to divest itself of administrative responsibility in Palestine after 15 May;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recognizing that circumstances beyond its control have prevented the Palestine Commission from adhering to the prescribed schedules of stages of implementation of the General Assembly Resolution of 29 November 1947;<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Recommends that the General Assembly<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>1.\t<\/span>Request the Palestine Commission –<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t\t<\/span>(a) to proceed immediately with the creation of Provisional Councils of Government and Local Militia Forces, in co-operation with the respective communities concerned, in the prescribed areas of Palestine,<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t(b) To assume as from 15 May, in co-operation with one or both of the Provisional Councils of Government, Civil Administration in the relevant area or areas of Palestine,\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t(c) To carry through, in co-operation with one or both of the Provisional Councils of Government, the remaining stages after 15 May prescribed in the General Assembly Resolution of 29 November 1947.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t2.\t<\/span>Call on the states of the Arab League to prohibit their Nationals from engaging in activities in Palestine designed to obstruct the carrying out of the General Assembly Resolution of 29 November 1947, and\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t3.\t<\/span>Call on States Members of the United Nations to refrain from furnishing aid or encouragement to either community in Palestine which is acting without the sanction of the Palestine Commission and in obstruction of the terms of the General Assembly Resolution of 29 November 1947.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
