Letter dated 21 January 2002 from the Permanent Representative<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to inform you that there were 75 Israeli violations of Lebanese territory during the month of December 2001, broken down as follows:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t1.\t<\/span>Fifty-three aerial violations by jet fighters;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t2.\t<\/span>Twelve violations by aerial reconnaissance aircraft;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t3.\t<\/span>Four violations by helicopters;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t4.\t<\/span>Four violations of Lebanese territorial waters by the Israeli navy;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t5.\t<\/span>Two violations of Lebanese territory on the ground.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The violations that Israel continues to commit against Lebanon in the air, at sea and on the ground are in flagrant violations of Security Council resolution <\/span>425 (1978)<\/a> and of Lebanon's sovereignty and they pose a threat to stability in the region.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 42, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n
