Letter dated 18 October 1985 from the Permanent Representative of<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

Israel to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>Document A\/40\/752, dated 15 October 1985, contains gratuitous and unfounded allegations. This attack on the credentials of the delegation of Israel to the fortieth session of the General Assembly is a deliberate attempt to abuse the credentials procedure of the United Nations.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>By introducing matters that are totally extraneous to the work of the Credentials Committee, the authors of document A\/40\/752 seek to undermine the work of that Committee. Israel's credentials were found in due form and accepted by the Credentials Committee (A\/40\/747). Yet by submitting that letter (A\/40\/752), its signatories persist in efforts to violate the letter and spirit of the Charter of the United Nations and the rules of procedure which govern the General Assembly.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>Not surprisingly, most of them show similar disregard for the fundamental principles of the United Nations by trying to deny the acceptance of Israel's credentials in the plenary of the General Assembly. The Government of Israel pleased that the overwhelming majority of members recognized and rejected this irresponsible action.<\/p><\/div>\n
