Letter dated 12 October 2001 from the Permanent Representative of Qatar<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I have the honour to transmit herewith a letter prepared and signed by a group of 85 Qatari children from the Qatari Center for the Education of Children (see annex).<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have the present letter and its annex circulated as a document of the special session of the General Assembly on children, under items 8 and 9 of the provisional agenda.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\n

When we picture ourselves sitting safely in our homes, going out to our classes feeling quite secure, or going to the market or places of recreation or entertainment without fear; when we look at our parents and know that, with the help of God, they will come back home and will shower us with love and affection until we become grown men and women; and when we then compare our situation with the situation of our young brothers and sisters in Palestine and Iraq, we are filled with sorrow at what those children have experienced, having lost their safety and security, their education, their health and a life of dignity. On our own behalf and on behalf of all the children of Qatar, we entreat everyone who has a conscience to assist in restoring to those children their rights and a life of dignity and security.<\/p><\/div>\n
