The policy of extrajudicial executions, restrictions on the freedom of movement of the Palestinians, the destruction of Palestinian homes, the ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees and the breaches of the provisions of international humanitarian law were unacceptable. The European Union strongly condemned all forms of terrorism and called on the Palestinian Authority to do its utmost to arrest and bring to justice the perpetrators and those responsible for terrorist acts. It was deeply concerned about the rapid trials that were taking place and requested the Authority to respect human rights and democratic principles and to maintain its moratorium on capital punishment.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">96.&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Mr. Laurin<\/strong>&nbsp;(Canada), &#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">116.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In the Middle East, the Palestinian Authority and Israel must refrain from inflaming the situation further and must pursue dialogue. The top priority should be the safety, security, human rights and well-being of the populations. Respect for the human dignity of all was a fundamental building block in the establishment of a sustainable peace.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><i>The meeting rose at 12.55 p.m.<\/i><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:left;padding-top:8px;font-size:8pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">This record is subject to correction.
