of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya to the United Nations addressed<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

to the President of the Security Council<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>I have the honour to refer to the letter of 20 November 2000 which you addressed to His Excellency the Ambassador of Palestine concerning the escalation by the occupation forces in Palestine of their aggression against the Gaza Strip by means of air attacks. They used about 50 rockets, which not only injured more than 50 Palestinians and completely destroyed the government installations of the Palestinian Authority but also severed the electricity supply in many parts of the Gaza Strip.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>Since those new acts of aggression reflect the continued determination of the occupation forces to use military force in an unacceptable manner, and since the deteriorating situation is a threat to the stability of the whole region, especially in view of the collective punishment being applied against the Palestinian people in violation of all international instruments, as Chairman of the Arab Group, I request the urgent convening of the Security Council to consider the serious developments described and the measures which the Council ought to take to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
