Addendum<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On 24 July 1986, the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations addressed the following note verbale to the Secretary-General:<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"The Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations presents his compliments to the Secretary-General and has the honour to refer to the note verbale of the Acting Permanent Representative of Israel of 2 July 1986.  Regarding General Assembly resolution 40\/161 A, the Acting Permanent Representative of Israel indicated that upon the completion of Abu Eain's trial, the results would be forwarded to the Secretary-General.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"On 21 July 1986 Abu Eain was found guilty of the following criminal acts:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"1.\t<\/span>Organization of and participation in subversive activities.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"2.\t<\/span>Organization of hostile propaganda and incitement to violence.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"3.\t<\/span>Conspiracy with the intent to carry out a felony (the hijacking of a bus).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t"4.\t<\/span>Attempts to solicit and engage others in criminal acts.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"Abu Eain's guilt was clear established in due process of law.  He was sentenced to 33 months in jail with an additional 21-month conditional sentence.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>"In view of these facts, Israel expressly rejects resolution 40\/161 A and continues to believe it should be dropped from the General Assembly's agenda."\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n
