style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-bottom:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The United Nations Charter states that all persons are entitled to human rights and fundamental freedoms without distinctions as to colour, sex, language or religion. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-bottom:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The fight against racism, discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance is at the heart of UNESCO&#39;s mandate since its very creation. <strong>Article 1 of UNESCO&#8217;s Constitution<\/strong>, adopted on 16 November 1945, stipulates that the Organization shall &#8220;contribute to peace and security by promoting collaboration among the nations through education, science and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, for the rule of law and for the human rights and fundamental freedoms which are affirmed for the peoples of the world, without distinction of race, sex, language or religion&#8221;.<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:20px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;color:#000000;padding-bottom:10px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">\/&#8230;<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:20px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;color:#000000;padding-bottom:10px;text-align:left;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><strong>II.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\"><strong>Philosophy, democracy and dialogue<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"Apple-tab-span\" style=\"white-space:pre; font-size:smaller\">\t<\/span>Activities directly referring to the Durban Programme of Action<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"padding-top:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;color:#000000;padding-bottom:10px;text-align:justify;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">Through its work of promoting philosophical thought and dialogue, UNESCO contributes indirectly to the struggle against all forms of ideological stand, and discrimination. <\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"color:#000000;text-align:justify;padding-bottom:10px;font-size:10pt;font-family:Times New Roman, serif;\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;\">The &#8220;<strong>Civil Societies in Dialogue: Israel\/Palestine<\/strong>&#8221; programme is part of UNESCO&#8217;s efforts to contribute to reconciliation in the region.
