to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

and the President of the Security Council<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p><\/div>\n

  On instructions from my Government I wish to inform you of the following: <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 1.   At 4.20 a.m. on 28 December 2005 two Israeli warplanes attacked the Na’imah district, situated south of the capital, Beirut, far into Lebanese territory, firing two air-to-ground missiles at the said area. In addition, six Israeli warplanes violated Lebanese airspace, from Naqurah in the south to the city of Tripoli in the north, reaching as far as Rashayya and Hasbayya in eastern Lebanon, where they carried out mock attacks; <\/p><\/div>\n

 2.   These violations, committed within the context of constant, near-daily Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and the Blue Line, jeopardize international security and peace and thus require on the part of the Security Council a tough stance with respect to Israel in order to call a halt to such acts of aggression; <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

 3.   As for the firing in the direction of the area south of the Blue Line, the competent authorities are conducting an investigation to ascertain the perpetrators. The Government of Lebanon is determined to prosecute them and to use its best efforts to prevent the repetition of such acts in the future. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

  I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly under agenda item 14 and of the Security Council. <\/p><\/div>\n
