Letter dated 24 April 2001 from the Permanent Representative of the<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

United Arab Emirates to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to inform you that the Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates recently decided to donate the sum of $300,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Procedures for the transfer of the sum are currently being completed, and the donation is being made in support of ICRC programmes in the occupied Palestinian territories and in Afghanistan.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\t<\/span>The Red Crescent Society has also forwarded the sum of $108,917 to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies as a contribution towards overcoming the Federation’s financial deficit.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the General Assembly.<\/p><\/div>\n
