Letter dated 26 September 1986 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>Further to my letter of 26 September 1986 (A\/41\/646-S\/18363), and on instructions from my Government, I have the honour to inform you of yet another act of aggression perpetrated by Israel today against the village of Yatar, situated in the area of operation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (see annex).<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>I should be grateful if you would have the text of this letter and its annex circulated as an official document of the General Assembly, under agenda item 37, and of the Security Council.<\/p><\/div>\n

New act of Israeli aggression against Lebanon<\/u><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>A unit of the Israeli Army and a unit of the so-called "South Lebanon Army" attacked the village of Yatar, situated in the area of operation of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), today, Friday, 26 September 1986.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The unit, which comprised four tanks and three armoured personnel carriers, occupied the village for a number of hours. During this time it raided houses and blew some of them up. It subsequently erected a barrier on the northern approach to the village and prevented any traffic from entering or leaving. During the operation, two helicopters circled above Yatar with the aim of terrorizing and intimidating the population.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The seizure of the area of operation of UNIFIL by the Israeli Army and its agents constitutes an act of aggression against UNIFIL which is likely to aggravate the current critical situation in the area and to increase the threat to the international forces.<\/p><\/div>\n
