From 30 October to 1 November 2017, the Committee collaborated with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to organize a study visit for three Palestinian Government officials from different Ministries to observe the sixty-eighth session of the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women to help Palestinian officials prepare for the Convention’s session in 2018, when the report of the State of Palestine would be discussed.
The visit also served as part of a wider programme of capacity building activities aiming at facilitating a discussion on the implementation of the human rights treaties that Palestine acceded to in 2014. The study visit also served to strengthen the capacity of Palestinian Government officials to engage with human rights treaty bodies.
