On 11 and 12 September, the CEIRPP Chair participated in the 2019 United Nations International Media Seminar on Peace in the Middle East, held in Ankara, Turkey. The event was organized by the Palestine Programme of the UN Department of Global Communications, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, and brought together diplomats, journalists, media experts and youth representatives from Palestine, Israel, Turkey, Europe, the United States and other parts of the world.
The Chair made a statement at the Opening Ceremony, and moderated Panel II under the theme “Ongoing challenges for media reporting on the situation in Gaza” where he highlighted the importance of safeguarding the work and ensuring the protection of journalists in Gaza. The Panel featured presentations by journalists and scholars working for the “Daily Sabah”, “The Guardian”, “Haaretz”, the London School of Economics and Political Science and “The New York Times”.
