Do you think that inter-Palestinian reconciliation is a positive development?

France welcomes the efforts to foster inter-Palestinian reconciliation which it has long called for, as well as the return to Gaza of the national unity government led by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah.

This return should allow the Palestinian Authority to fully exercise its prerogatives in the Gaza Strip, including in the area of security, and to pave the way, through the discussions announced in Cairo, toward a reconciliation process.

Inter-Palestinian reconciliation is critical to re-establishing a political vision. It also essential to protecting the interests of the population of Gaza, the main victims of the current political deadlock, and may facilitate the lifting of the blockade imposed on the Gazans.
