The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the violent assault and offensive actions by Israeli occupation officers and extreme right-winger Israeli settlers on Palestinian citizens throughout Al-Quds Al-Sharif, resulting in the injury and arrest of dozens of Jerusalemites.

The OIC held Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the consequences of its ongoing violations and provocative practices that fuel violence, tension and hatred, and called for international protection for the Palestinian people.

The OIC also denounced the Israeli occupation’s attempts to prevent Palestinian citizens in the occupied city of Al-Quds from participating in the Palestinian democratic electoral process, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to allow elections to be held across Palestine, including in Al-Quds Al-Sharif, and to provide the means for their successful conduct.

It also reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian electoral process as a crucial political and legal moment for Palestinians to assert their existence on their land and exercise their right to self-determination, and an important step in the building of their own independent and sovereign State within the 1967 borders, with eastern al-Quds as its capital.
