Europe

  • On 27 January Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and the Lajee Centre in Glasgow were presented with the proceeds from the #MatchTheFineForPalestine fundraiser which raised over £350,000. MAP has stated that it will use its share of the proceeds toward “a mobile clinic for threatened Bedouin communities in the Jordan Valley, limb reconstruction surgery for those affected by conflict in Gaza, and specialised burns treatment across the West Bank.”
  • The London-based Palestine Return Centre (PRC) presented Caroline Lucas, Green Party co-leader and MP, with an honorary plaque on 25 January for her support to PRC’s bid to be recognized as an NGO with special consultative status at the UN.
North America
  • On 25 January the Columbia University Centre for Palestine Studies announced the launch of “Against a Hard Surface – Exploring the Long Term Effects of Life Under Occupation, a poetic and political dance theatre piece created by theatre director Amir Nizar Zuabi and by the Yaa Samaar! Dance Theatre. The performance is due to have a soft opening at the Palestinian Museum on 6 February followed by an official world premiere at the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival on 29 April.
