Middle East

  • On 25 November, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights published an article to mark the launch of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence”, the annual campaign led by civil society organizations worldwide to advocate for the prevention of violence against women and girls. The NGO stated that women in Gaza struggled daily to survive amid repeated displacement, insecurity, loss of shelter, and family members, amid the collapse of protection systems and essential services, and in the absence of any effective international protection.
  • On 25 November, Al-Haq published an article on the report “The Private Actors Behind the Economy of Occupation and Genocide”. According to the NGO, this report, published by the Don’t Buy into Occupation Coalition, exposed the financial relationships between European financial institutions and businesses involved in Israel’s illegal settlement enterprise in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
  • On 24 November, the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies issued a statement to raise serious concerns following the UN Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2803, endorsing the United States-led Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. The NGO stated that it welcomed all efforts aimed at finding a just and peaceful solution in Palestine but added that the resolution failed to address the root causes and ongoing structural impediments that have preempted peace in the region for more than 70 years. The Palestinian Center for Human Rights, Al Mezan and other organizations published an article on this issue as well.

Africa, Asia and Europe

  • On 24 November, Agence Média Palestine published an article (in French) informing that 21 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank since 7 October 2023, following the killing of a 20-year-old Palestinian on 23 November. The NGO stated that perpetrators of the 20 previous crimes against Palestinians have not been condemned, adding that Israeli settlers have continued their radicalization, with full impunity and with support from Israeli authorities.
  • On 19 November, Law for Palestine organized the webinar “Genocide in the Age of Economic and Physical Coercion”. According to the NGO, this panel discussion examined how powerful actors used economic and physical coercion to block accountability for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, ways to counter state driven economic, diplomatic, and force-based pressures. Panelists also discussed how to promote multilateral sanctions and sanction measures on Israel and advance transnational justice in Gaza in line with international obligations.

North America

  • On 1 December, the Center for Palestine Studies at Columbia University will organize an event with writer Mosab Abu Toha, followed by a conversation between Abu Toha and writer and translator, Yasmine Seale, and with introductory remarks by Nadia Abu El-Haj, Professor of Anthropology and Co-Director of the Center for Palestine Studies.
  • On 20 November, Human Rights Watch published the new report “All My Dreams Have Been Erased’: Israel’s Forced Displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank” detailing the forced displacement of Palestinian civilians caused by “Operation Iron Wall,” an Israeli military operation across Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams refugee camps, in the occupied West Bank, that began on 21 January 2025, days after a temporary ceasefire was announced in Gaza. According to the NGO, 32,000 people have been reportedly removed and not been permitted to return to their homes, many of which Israel forces have deliberately demolished. The NGO stated that the Israeli government’s forced displacement of the populations of those three refugee camps amounted to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

United Nations

  • On 4 December, the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will organize a screening of the film “The Voice of Hind Rajab” at UN Headquarters in New York, in the Trusteeship Council Chamber at 1-3 p.m., followed by a discussion with the director, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, at 3-5 p.m. The panel discussion will be broadcast live on UN Web TV.The film blends actual recordings and scripted performances to tell the devastating story of Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl trapped and dying under Israeli military fire, and the first responders who tried to save her. “The Voice of Hind Rajab” won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, where it received the longest standing ovation in film festival history. The film is Tunisia’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards with executive producers including Alfonso Cuarón, Jonathan Glazer, Rooney Mara, Joaquin Phoenix and Brad Pitt.
  • On 25 November, the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People held a special meeting on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People at UN headquarters in New York. The event offered an opportunity for Member States, regional organizations and civil society to share messages of solidarity with the Palestinian people. The event featured a “Voice from Gaza”, Palestinian journalist Shrouq Al Aila, who spoke via a pre-recorded video from Gaza, and Palestinian writer Mosab Abu Toha, who gave a keynote speech and read some of his poetry. All Member States and Observers, United Nations organizations, and intergovernmental and civil society organizations were invited to attend. Similar events will take place at UN offices in Geneva, Nairobi, Vienna, as well as other locations throughout the world.
  • On 24 November, Deputy Special Coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov briefed the Security Council on the Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question, stating that since coming into effect last month, the ceasefire had largely held in Gaza and urging all parties to exercise restraint and fulfill their commitments under the agreement. He added that the Security Council has taken an important step in the consolidation of the ceasefire with the adoption of Security Council resolution 2803, as the people in Gaza have experienced at least the first glimmers of respite from the near constant bombardment of the last two years. Mr. Alakbarov stated further that all efforts must be guided by the imperative of establishing a genuine political process that will resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict once and for all, with the New York Declaration and initiatives such as the Global Alliance for the Two-State Solution playing a vital role.
