The Committee Delegation visited Brussels to meet with the Belgian and European Union officials, parliamentarians and civil society organizations.

The visit was intended to mobilize regional and national action in support of the two-State solution of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the only viable solution to end Israeli occupation and to fulfil the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including independence and sovereignty of the State of Palestine on the basis of the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The delegation sought the support of the European Union to: (1) recognize the State of Palestine; (2) support full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations, considering the increasing important role it has assumed through the chairpersonship of the G77; and (3) address the shortfall in UNRWA funding and support the right of return of Palestine refugees.

The delegation engaged regional and local civil society organisations and solidarity movements active across Europe to explore and implement new ideas and initiatives and promote achievement by the Palestinian people of their inalienable rights.
