Climate Change Diplomacy: Negotiating Effectively under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, 27 March – 21 May 2017

The Committee supported an 8-week online course through UNITAR from 27 March to 21 May 2017, entitled “Climate Change Diplomacy: Negotiating Effectively under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change”, for two officials of the Palestinian Environment Quality Authority (EPA) with the aim of enhancing the understanding of the climate change policy framework by building an appreciation of the science, causes and impacts of climate change, the history of the policy-making process and the UNFCCC framework, as well as the challenges currently facing diplomats and international decision-makers in making progress with what is currently on the negotiating table.

The training facilitated an understanding of the negotiations to-date and provided a close look at gender considerations in the negotiations as well as the specific interests of parties who are most vulnerable to climate change.
