Designed and decorated with the sponsorship of the Russian Federation.  Mr. H.E. Mr. Vitaly I. Churkin, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN and SC President for the month of March remarked that "this is the place where the most important decisions regarding international peace and security are hashed out, this is the place where the most heated debates occur, this is the place where the diplomats that have the privilege of working in the Security Council spend the most interesting hours and days of their professional lives. The most fascinating place in the diplomatic universe.  In the decor preserves its legacy while bringing in something modern, vigorous and, of course, Russian. The legacy is kept by the authentic table; the Russian cultural imprint is carried out by the ornate wooden panels, the patchwork curtains and the unique circular lamp on the ceiling.  The modern age is provided through the technologies and materials used to translate an ambitious architectural and artistic project.

The design concept is based on the idea that folk ornaments serve as a means of transmitting information through the ages, the curtain while incorporating patterns typical in the north also includes patterns representing different nations in the world. The wooden panels serve s a symbolic clue to the message of the curtains, the symbolic circular ceiling lamp the inexhaustible energy, the light of goodness that protects people against falling into the dark abyss of hatred and war. We hope this design will help bridge differences and make the world better place to live for the current and succeeding generations.
