Satellite Data Training for Disaster Management

The Technology Bank and the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) have signed an inter-agency agreement based on two workstreams. The first workstream will focus on enhancing the capacity of experts and supporting policy and decision-makers.

About the UNOOSA’s SPIDER Programme

UNOOSA’s SPIDER programme includes accessing to and developing the capacity to use all types of space-based information that support the full disaster management cycle in Malawi, Nepal, Cambodia, Laos, and the LDCs in the Pacific. The second workstream will focus on developing two five-day webinars focusing on advancing women in space technologies and water management through the SPACE4WOMEN programme. The programme’s implementation has been impacted by the COVID-19 restrictions, which affected travel of resource persons. However, a training design for national training workshops has been developed and implementation will be in 2022.
