It can be used to unite our complex and difficult world to promote not only healthy lifestyles but to promote peace and security in the world,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unmultimedia.org\/avlibrary\/asset\/1914\/1914858\/\">said<\/a> Dr. Nata Menabde, Executive Director of the New York Office of the World Health Organization (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/en\/\">WHO<\/a>), at an event entitled <em>Conversation: Yoga for Health<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year&#8217;s celebration, organized by the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, is &#8216;Yoga for Health.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>WHO defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. While affordable health care services are vital, it is also important to spread awareness about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle in promoting good health.<\/p>\n<p>Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India, with the Sanskrit word <em>yoga<\/em> meaning &#8216;to unite&#8217; \u2013 symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>Today, it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity \u2013 promoting the practice of achieving sustainable lifestyles that are in harmony with nature.
