The U.S. Sharks \u2013 tycoon investors Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O\u2019Leary \u2013 were joined by six stars from \u00a0other international versions of the show: Manjit Minhas from Canada\u2019s \u201cDragons\u2019 Den, Dr. Catriona Wallace from Australia\u2019s \u201cShark Tank,\u201d Aman Gupta from\u00a0 India\u2019s \u201cShark Tank,\u201d Elias Aalto from Finland\u2019s \u201cLions\u2019 Den,\u201d Carol Paiffer from Brazil\u2019s \u201cShark Tank\u201d and Nishita Shah from Thailand\u2019s \u201cShark Tank.\u201d,<\/p>\n<p>While at the UN, the Sharks, Dragons and Lions were briefed by leading experts and high-level UN officials who impressed upon them that they, as business leaders and entrepreneurs, have the power to make a real difference achieving the SDGs, the blueprint adopted by world leaders for a better future, peace and prosperity for all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou think about your kids and their future kids and the world you want to leave behind for them,\u201d Mark Cuban said, reflecting on the challenge laid down to the Sharks to help spur action on the SDGs.<\/p>\n<p>By investing in and supporting innovative solutions to positively impact the planet, the Sharks\u2019 unique positions as leaders of industry have the power to directly impact the planet and to inspire others to do the same.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrivate sector leadership is essential,\u201d Melissa Fleming, UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, told the Sharks who were briefed on tackling climate change, achieving gender equality and spurring economic development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo me the whole day was a wakeup call,\u201d said Barbara Corcoran. \u201cWhat we learned today is that we have more power than we thought to make a difference in business. Now I\u2019m going to choose different products, different businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But you don\u2019t have to be a Shark, Dragon or Lion to make a difference.
