Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of the Belgians delivered an address at the opening of the 2018 European Development Days (EDD) in Brussels.

In her speech, the Queen focused on mental health, and its importance to the development and the 2030 Agenda.

Her Majesty noted that mental health is a crucial building block for many of the SDGs, and is essential in the fight against poverty, quality education, decent work, and economic growth.

Queen Mathilde also implored those present to remember that the SDGs promise to leave no-one behind, and pay particular attention to the most vulnerable in society. Delivering better outcomes on mental health, particularly for women, girls, and young people is therefore key.
