High-Level Briefings to Member States

Wednesday, 18 April 2018

UN Headquarters, New York

Universal access to energy, increased energy efficiency and expanded use of renewables — targets of Sustainable Development Goal 7 — are central to the achievement of both the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and countries will be reviewing progress on this goal in July at the UN High Level Political Forum 2018 .

The briefings are part of an effort to scale up actions to achieve SDG7, which are also critical for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change.

The multistakeholder SDG7 Technical Advisory Group, convened by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, will launch the publication “Accelerating SDG7 Achievement: Policy Briefs in support of the first SDG 7 review at the UN High Level Political Forum 2018” at the briefing to Member States on 18 April.
