World economic growth has reached its highest level of growth since 2011, according to the 2018 World Economic Situation and Prospects Report (WESP), which will be launched by Mr. Liu Zhenmin, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, on 11 December.

Forecasts indicate continued growth in most regions in the coming year, offering policy makers greater scope to address some of the deep-rooted issues that continue to impede more rapid progress towards sustainable development: strengthening the environmental quality of economic growth, making economic growth more inclusive, and tackling institutional deficiencies that hold back development.
