Appeal for Peace

On 1 January 2017, Secretary-General António Guterres launched an appeal for peace with the hope that everyone strive to overcome differences, saying "Peace must be our goal and our guide."

International Women's Day

"As Secretary-General of the United Nations I am 100 per cent committed to women’s leadership and gender equality", Mr. Guterres said in his message commemorating International Women's Day.

Priorities

"Let us declare in one voice: We will not tolerate anyone committing or condoning sexual exploitation and abuse. We will not let anyone cover up these crimes with the UN flag", Secretary-General António Guterres said on the launch of his new proposals to tackle such behaviour in the UN System.
