Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial Resistance

On 21 September 2016, during the 71ST Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Member States adopted the Political Declaration of the High-level Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance contained in Resolution A/RES/71/3. This reflected Member States’ recognition of the magnitude of this global problem and consensus about the actions needed to prevent a post-antibiotic era. 
 
In accordance paragraph 15 of the Political Declaration, the Secretary-General has established an ad hoc Interagency Coordination Group on Antimicrobial Resistance.

Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed Concludes Consultations with Senior Officials in Europe, Calls for Renewed Political and Humanitarian Efforts to End Conflict and Alleviate Suffering in Yemen.

New-York --The United Nations Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, concluded today a four day visit to Europe, during which he held consultations with senior officials and Middle East experts on the situation in Yemen.

Statement attributable to the Spokesman for the Secretary-General on US financial contribution to the United Nations

We have just seen the blueprint of the 2018 budget released by the White House. 

The budgetary process in the US is complex and lengthy and it needs to be completed. 

The Secretary-General is grateful for the support the United States has given to the United Nations over the years as the organization’s largest financial contributor.

I commend you for championing an agenda that is crucial to every aspect of the work, vision and values of the United Nations.
