Remarks to Media after "Tech and Innovation CEO Roundtable: Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals [SDG's]

Ban Ki-moon

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

I am very pleased to visit San Francisco to celebrate the 70th anniversary of signing of the United Nations Charter, right here in San Francisco.

On this very happy occasion I had very good opportunity of meeting successful business leaders working in this area.

We are living in very difficult times while we are trying to shape a future development agenda in a sustainable way.

I believe that this is a once in a generation opportunity that we can work together to make this world better for all people and our planet earth. How we can address climate change, which is approaching much, much faster than we may think. How we can provide good job opportunities to all the people around the word where people can live with equality, and also where we can have justice.

This is the vision that we are now developing in a sustainable development agenda. We need innovation and technology to support this sustainable development agenda. I am very much impressed and grateful for such strong commitment and engagement of business leaders who have been able to embrace all of the challenges which we have into great opportunities –job opportunities. This is exactly what we need. We want to have a strong partnership with the business community, particularly, innovative business leaders.

Thank you very much for this opportunity.
