Remarks at Leaders' Roundtable on promoting green and sustainable development to implement the 2030 Agenda

I am deeply concerned about the climate crisis, and this is a matter I am very passionate about.

Since I feel, when one looks at what happens on the ground and which is growing worse day by day, I believe we still lack the global political will to take the kind of transformational measures necessary to make these trends be reversed before it is too late.

Convened by President Xi Jinping, we come together at this forum on the Belt and Road in the face of uncertainty and unease around the globe.

I want to recognize China for its central role as a pillar of international cooperation and multilateralism.  This gathering today reflects that commitment in these turbulent times.

Inequality, the climate crisis, and the potential risks of globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution are creating deep levels of public anxiety.
