The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack by unidentified armed elements on 20 June 2025 against a patrol of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), which resulted in the death of a Zambian peacekeeper and the injury of another. The incident occurred along the Birao - Am Dafock axis in Vakaga Prefecture.
The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the fallen peacekeeper and to the Government and the people of Zambia and wishes a swift and full recovery to the injured.
The Secretary-General recalls that attacks targeting United Nations peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law. He calls on the Central African authorities to spare no effort in identifying the perpetrators of this tragedy so that they can be brought to justice swiftly.
The Secretary-General reaffirms the solidarity of the United Nations with the people and Government of the Central African Republic.

Le Secrétaire général condamne fermement l'attaque perpétrée le 20 juin 2025 par des éléments armés non identifiés contre une patrouille de la Mission multidimensionnelle intégrée des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en République centrafricaine (MINUSCA), qui a entrainé la mort d'un casque bleu zambien et blessé un autre. L'incident s'est produit le long de l'axe Birao-Am Dafock, dans la préfecture de Vakaga.
Le Secrétaire général présente ses sincères condoléances à la famille du casque bleu décédé, ainsi qu'au Gouvernement et au peuple de la Zambie, et souhaite un prompt et complet rétablissement au soldat blessé.
Le Secrétaire général rappelle que les attaques visant les soldats de la paix des Nations Unies peuvent constituer des crimes de guerre au regard du droit international. Il invite les autorités centrafricaines à ne ménager aucun effort pour identifier les auteurs de cette tragédie afin qu'ils soient rapidement traduits en justice.
