The Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the death of at least 39 people in a fire last night at a Mexican migration facility in Ciudad Juarez. He conveys his deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased and wishes a swift recovery to the injured.
 
The Secretary-General calls for a thorough investigation of this tragic event and reiterates his commitment to continue working with the authorities of countries where mixed movements of people occur to establish safer, more regulated, and organized migration pathways.

Declaración atribuible al Portavoz del Secretario General sobre el incendio en un centro migratorio mexicano

El Secretario General lamenta profundamente la muerte de al menos 39 personas en un incendio ocurrido anoche en un centro migratorio mexicano en Ciudad Juárez. Transmite su más sentido pésame a las familias y seres queridos de los fallecidos y desea una pronta recuperación a los heridos.

El Secretario General insta a que se lleve a cabo una investigación exhaustiva de este trágico suceso y reitera su compromiso de seguir trabajando con las autoridades de los países en los que se producen movimientos mixtos de personas para establecer vías de migración más seguras, reguladas y organizadas.
