The Secretary-General strongly condemns the attack on 24 November at the Obo airfield in south-eastern Central African Republic, which resulted in the death of one peacekeeper from Morocco. MINUSCA has opened an investigation to establish the full facts surrounding the death of the peacekeeper. 

The Secretary-General expresses his deepest condolences to the family of the fallen peacekeeper and to the Kingdom and people of Morocco. 

The Secretary-General recalls that attacks targeting United Nations peacekeepers may constitute war crimes under international law. He calls on the Central African Republic authorities to spare no effort in identifying the perpetrators of this tragedy so that they can be brought to justice swiftly.

The Secretary-General reaffirms the solidarity of the United Nations with the people and Government of the Central African Republic.

Le Secrétaire général condamne fermement l'attaque du 24 novembre, survenue sur le terrain d’aviation d'Obo, dans le sud-est de la République centrafricaine, qui a entraîné la mort d'un Casque bleu marocain. La MINUSCA a ouvert une enquête pour établir les faits concernant la mort du Casque bleu. 

Le Secrétaire général exprime ses plus sincères condoléances à la famille du Casque bleu décédé ainsi qu'au Royaume et au peuple du Maroc. 

Le Secrétaire général rappelle que les attaques visant les soldats de la paix des Nations Unies peuvent constituer des crimes de guerre en vertu du droit international. Il appelle les autorités de la République centrafricaine à ne ménager aucun effort pour identifier les auteurs de cette tragédie afin qu'ils soient rapidement traduits en justice. 

Le Secrétaire général réaffirme la solidarité des Nations Unies avec le peuple et le gouvernement de la République centrafricaine.
