The Secretary-General welcomes the announcement of the start of a dialogue process between the Government of Ecuador and indigenous organizations, facilitated by the Episcopal Conference and the United Nations.  He calls on all concerned to commit to inclusive and meaningful talks, and to work in good faith towards a peaceful solution to the pressing challenges facing the country.

The Secretary-General also calls on all actors to reduce tensions, refrain from acts of violence and exercise maximum restraint.

El Secretario General da la bienvenida al anuncio del inicio de un proceso de diálogo entre el Gobierno del Ecuador y las organizaciones indígenas, facilitado por la Conferencia Episcopal y el Sistema de las Naciones Unidas en Ecuador. Hace un llamado a todos los actores para que se comprometan a un diálogo inclusivo y efectivo, y trabajen de buena fe en busca de una solución pacífica a los importantes retos que enfrenta el país. 

El Secretario General urge igualmente a todos los actores a que reduzcan las tensiones, eviten actos de violencia y actúen con la máxima moderación.
