Ladies and gentlemen,
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is experiencing one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises.
Millions of people are suffering.
More than 750,000 Congolese have had to seek refuge in the region, of whom 60,000 arrived this year.
The humanitarian community has scaled up dramatically. And the United Nations and the Government will continue to work together to effectively and efficiently help those most in need.
Yet, the single biggest obstacle is the lack of funding.
I urge all of you today to stand in solidarity with the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
