The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia at the ASEAN summit.

The Secretary-General expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s active role as Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for 2023 and highlighted the longstanding ASEAN-UN partnership.

They also discussed regional and global issues, including the situations in Myanmar, Afghanistan and the Middle East, as well as the need for reforms of the international financial architecture.
