The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.
 
The Secretary-General thanked President Xi for the leadership shown by China in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, stressing the United Nations’ support in aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with the 2030 Agenda.
 
The Secretary-General also expressed his appreciate for President Xi’s personal engagement on enhancing climate action ahead of the September summit in New York.
 
They also discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula as well as United Nations reform.
